Teotihuacan

Teotihuacan

If you are visiting Mexico City you should take some time to visit Teotihuacan especially if you are not planning to return in the near future.

Teotihuacan is the largest pre-Columbian city in the Americas, containing some of the largest pyramidal structures, large residential complexes and 4 kilometers long Avenue of the Death flanked by temples, palaces and platforms.

Teotihuacan, since 1987 a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is about 30 miles (50 kilometers) northeast of Mexico City and can be reached by a bus in about an hour. However, have in mind that Teotihuacan is an enormous archaeological site so be prepared for lots of walking and climbing. Besides comfortable shoes do not forget water and try to get there early in the morning or late in the afternoon if you want to avoid the crowds and heat.
